Poplawski, James G.
75, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and Papa passed away on January 18, 2013 in his home surrounded by those who loved him. Jim, a twin, was born in 1937 at home in Milwaukee, WI. He attended St. Vincent De Paul Grade School, South Division High School were he played Varsity Football, Basketball and Baseball and was named to the City Conference All-Star Football Team. In 1956 Dan Divine & Frank Kush recruited Jim to ASU to play football on a scholarship. He was a member of ASU's 1957 undefeated nationally ranked football team. He received both his BA and MA in education at ASU. Coach Pop taught and coached at Coronado High School in Scottsdale for 30 years.. A life well lived, he was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Marie (Tessenske) Poplawski. He is survived by his wife of 50 yrs, Michal (Kinzle), son James (Jay), grandson's Jared, Jett and James. Daughter Jennifer (Miki) , husband Scott Miller, grandchildren Carson and Megan. Sisters Virginia Richetta (Ray) and Joan Hildebrandt (Len) of WI. Jim's love of sports and family were his main interests. Packers, Brewers, Sun Devils, golfing, hunting, water and snow skiing, fishing in Alaska, refereeing basketball and building a cabin in Pinetop, AZ, he did them all well. His heart was in being a husband, father, Papa, friend and teacher. He was a lucky man, he did what he loved and was admired and loved by many. He was the leading man of his own life. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Jim's life at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 7655 E. Main St., Scottsdale.on Friday Feb. 8, at 2pm. Celebration immediately following.
