Parada del Sol Parade 2013

Please join fellow Dons from all classes for the 60th Annual Parada del Sol Parade and Trails End Celebration. This year's theme is:  "60 Years Of Celebrating Scottsdale's Oldest Tradition."

The parade runs north starting at Oak to Indian School Road at 10:00 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m.

There is a large group of Dons who meet at the Wilshire Plaza (Oak Street and Scottsdale Road) to watch the parade. We are located in the parking lot just north of Discount Tire. Many of us then move on to Patties First Avenue Lounge, 7220 E. 1st Avenue in the midst of the Tails End Celebration among other various locations throughout Old Town.

Yvonne Zubia and Stephen Campoy (both CHS 1979) will be hosting a get-together at the Pink Pony at 8:00 a.m. For all the details, check out their Facebook event: Walk-Drop-Crawl for Parada.

                                     Trails End Celebration

The annual Trails End Celebration is presented by Scottsdale Downtown. The party will begin immediately following the Parada del Sol Parade. The Trail's End party takes place in Old Town Scottsdale on 1st Avenue, between Brown Road and Scottsdale Road. This is a huge block party for all ages, including the kid's area with games, pony rides and much more.  There will be many food and merchandise vendors located throughout the area.  You won't want to miss checking out the hundreds of original shops located in the Scottsdale Old town/Downtown area.

Playing on the main stage at 1st Avenue and Brown will be some of the best live entertainment in the valley:

Crossroad                         11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
James Parks Band              6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
A Boy Named Sioux            8:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
Sour Diesel Train Wreck     10:00 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.

Mark Zubia (CHS 1985) of the band, Los Guys, will be performing at Old Town Tavern at 8:00 p.m.

Scottsdale High School Beavers

The Scottsdale High School Beavers are having a pre-Parada del Sol Parade party for all classes (1922-1983) on Feburary 8, 2013 at 6:30 at Flicka's.  Check out their event on on Facebook:  Scottsdale High ***ALL-YEAR REUNION***.

On Saturday, our old Beaver rivals will have their own wagon in the parade "SHS Wagon."  2012 SHS Beaver Video  Really how come we don't have a CHS wagon?  Afterwards, they congregate at Patties 1st Ave Lounge and then The Coach House. Their event on Facebook:  Parada del Sol Parade:  SHS Alumni.

It is so entertaining to see their Beaver on the Stick!   In 2011, we had a Donette on a stick - where is that darn thing?  Oh that's right we have a real live Don!  (we cannot give up his name, but he's a very handsome man in full Coronado Don garb from the class of 1982).

The SHS/Coronado class of 1962 is having their 50 year reunion at Chaparral Suites this weekend too!  For full details go to http://scottsdalehigh50threunion.com/

We hope to see you at some point during the Parada del Sol Parade festivities and don't forget to wear your cowboy boots!
